South Korean government: 21 exchanges have passed ISMS certification
According to the status list of 63 virtual asset operators announced by the Korean government, as of last month, 21 exchanges have passed the Korean Information Security Management System (ISMS) certification conducted by the Korea Internet Security Agency, including Bithumb, Upbit, Korbit, Coinone, Huobi Korea, etc. Of the 42 companies that have not obtained ISMS certification, 18 are applying for certification. In addition, South Korean government departments have investigated and dealt with 141 virtual currency fraud cases involving 520 persons and confiscated 255.6 billion won (approximately US$219 million) of criminal proceeds through special investigations. According to the "Specific Financial Information Law" passed by the South Korean National Assembly before September 24, crypto exchanges must complete ISMS certification and report to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) under the Financial Services Commission before September 24, or they will be forced to close.
